Back in Singapore, my National Day celebrations were limited to turning the TV channel to the grand annual parade while having dinner. But here, we have two National Day parties this weekend to celebrate. Maybe absence makes the heart grow fonder? So in honour of this big day, I will cook and post a dish from Singapore, or one that I associate with Singapore, everyday for one week. As a Singaporean, there is no better way to show patriotism than good "makan" (Malay for "eat")!
